What's your role at H2D? How long have you been with the company?
Interior Designer. I've been with H2D for 5 years.
What inspired you to pursue a career in architecture and/or interior design?
As a child, I would spend hours rearranging the furniture and decor in my room, always fascinated by how small changes could transform a space. I also discovered a deep love for art, whether it was drawing, painting, or simply appreciating the beauty of design. Over time, I realized that interior design was the perfect way to combine my natural creativity, problem-solving skills, and passion for making spaces feel special.
What's your go-to design style or inspiration?
Midcentury modern is by far my favorite design style, with its clean lines and timeless appeal. I’m also drawn to the simplicity and elegance of Scandinavian design, which perfectly balances functionality with beauty.
What's one thing you'd like clients to know about the design process?
As much as I love bringing creative ideas to life, sometimes the process can be challenging—especially when there are differing opinions or uncertainties about what’s best for the space. It’s important to remember that good design takes time and a bit of back-and-forth. We may go through a few iterations to get everything just right, but that’s all part of crafting a space that truly works for you. If you as the client can stay open-minded, communicate honestly, and trust the process, we’ll be able create something that exceeds your expectations.
If you could instantly learn any skill, what would it be?
I wish I could instantly learn how to play the banjo. I’ve always loved folk music, and while I already play a bit of guitar and piano, the banjo’s distinct, soulful sound really intrigues me!
What's your favorite place you've traveled to?
While a few popular European cities come to mind, I can't help but think back to the springtime trip I took to Chicago with my best friend. The city's architecture and layout were absolutely stunning, and there was no shortage of amazing places to eat, drink, and shop (my favorite things)! But what really stood out was the warmth of the people and the vibrant energy of the city. From the moment I arrived, I knew it was a place I’d want to return to and explore more whenever the opportunity arose.
What's your favorite season? And why?
Fall! After a couple months of the busy, outdoorsy, sometimes too hot days of summer, my energy is spent. Come late September, I'm ready to snuggle up indoors with a hot toddy and reconnect with my crocheting, movie watching, puzzle doing side; I find that it's when I'm most at ease.
What's one trend in design you'd love to see a comeback?
Tile countertops. I know, I know—there are some obvious concerns, like dirty grout, chipping tiles, and the fact that they’ve been seen as dated for a while now. But as a child of the '90s, I can't help but feel nostalgic and think they could be reinvented in a modern, fresh way. Tile offers so much potential for character and visual interest that a simple slab countertop just can’t match. Of course, I know it wouldn't suit every style, but in the right context, I think it could add a unique, dynamic touch. Take a look at this article to see what I'm talking about.
If you were a superhero, my superpower would be ____________________.
Invisibility. I’ve always been curious about how people live in their spaces — how their homes reflect their personalities, their choices, and their stories, so with my superpower I would quietly explore inside any home or building I'd like to, taking in the architecture, furniture, artwork, nick-nacks, etc., without disturbing anything. I'm sure it would spark all kinds of creative ideas!
