Analyzing the site as a whole helps to inform the design process. Site characteristics, such as views, vegetation, solar access, and direction of prevailing winds to name a few, are key components for identifying an ideal building location, shape, directionality, and design concept.
Schematic Design
The Schematic Design process is an exploration of the basic design through a series of initial sketches, including floor plans, exterior views, and site plans, based on the initial vision for the project. The Architect and clients work together to develop these sketches to satisfy all the requirements for the project.

Design Development
The Architect and clients begin to develop the schematic design sketches into a final design. This phase may go through several design iterations before the project arrives at a final design that meets all the client's needs and objectives.
Permitting and Construction
The Architect develops the design into a set of detailed plans to submit to the local jurisdiction for the required permits. The plans continue to be developed with code information, construction details, interior views, finish selections, and specifications.
Construction Observation
H2D finds that a weekly or bi-weekly meeting with the contractor and client is beneficial to help facilitate decisions or changes that need to be made during construction.
